Dinosaurs Became Extinct from Ionizing
Radiation
President
and founder of The Living Cosmos Society, and long-time
author, Richard Pasichnyk, Ph.D., presents a new theory on the
dinosaurs’ demise in his new book, The Vital
Vastness. The
present scenarios on the extinction, an asteroid or
comet impact and huge volcanic eruptions, have not
withstood the burden of proof by not satisfying all of
the evidence discovered for the time period.
This new
theory is that ionizing radiation, emanating from the
Earth itself, was responsible.
The largest animals would absorb ionizing
radiation the most, and nearly every animal over 55
kilograms (121.25 pounds) became extinct at the time.
The only large animals that did not become
extinct at that time were those that where protected by
deep water (for example, sharks) or laid their eggs in
mud (for example, crocodiles).
Deep, salty water and mud are very good shields
against the effects of radiation.
This is
one of the major flaws of both the impact and volcanic
scenarios, as they do not describe why there were
selective extinctions.
The large dust cloud in both scenarios should
have caused massive plant extinctions, especially in the
tropics. Yet,
the evidence shows the exact opposite with plants
affected very little, especially in the tropics.
Moreover,
plants are much less vulnerable to radiation than
animals, and animals also fared worse, extinction wise.
Also mammals are less vulnerable to radiation
than marsupials and reptiles, and the extinctions reveal
the same trend.
The scenario after the extinction also argues for
the role of ionizing radiation.
A short time following the extinction – a far
shorter time than could be expected of the impact and
volcanic scenarios – there was a proliferation of new
species. Ionizing
radiation is a powerful means for rearranging genetic
material, hence new species.
The theory also provides a means for the
tremendous geologic upheaval around the planet at the
time. It
also satisfies many bits of evidence that other theories
fail to, and is, in fact, the only theory to encompass
all of the facts.
