USDA Organic
Certification
The Organic
Source International's (OSI’s) purpose
is to promote and provide support for organic agricultural
practices worldwide. In May 2006, we added a certification
consulting division to service small farmers in other countries who are
interested in selling their organic products to the United
States, and who desire to obtain certification for their
products for import under the USDA Organic label. We can
help farmers officially prepare for the certification of their
crops and food products, and we
can help to source those products for exporting to the USA.
Why the
USDA Organic Label? The United States has the largest
demand for “certified organic foods” in the world. Consumers
have become more educated about organically grown foods since
the 1960s. From little cooperative stores that sold only small
quantities and very expensive and limited types of fruits and
vegetables, now there are literally tens of thousands of stores
in the U.S.,
many of which are big grocery chains selling every variety that
typical commercial grocery supermarkets provide. The customers
who eat organically grown and produced foods are educated. They
understand the risks associated with eating commercially grown
foods. See “Why Panic? Eat Organic!!” They also understand by experimentation that organic
foods taste better, and therefore they can enjoy a higher
quality of daily life. USDA Certified Organic means that consumers
can trust that the product
is grown and handled by USDA organic standards.
We welcome
all farmers in Vietnam who are interested in obtaining USDA
Organic certification and distribution of their organic products
to the USA. Please write us for questions, comments,
